Fertility assessment

A fertility assessment can provide you with important information about your fertility health, which you may find helpful. We will carry out some simple tests to give you an assessment of fertility potential. The results can highlight whether you have a fertility issue which could make it difficult to conceive in the future, or give you the reassurance that everything is fine.

When you're starting out

Treatment with donor sperm

Choosing the right sperm donor is important, it can be a very time-consuming process but one of the biggest decisions you will make in your life. Our dedicated donation team will give you all the support and guidance you need, answering any questions you have and helping you find your donor. Your treatment options will include:

Donor sperm insemination (donor IUI)

Insemination with donor sperm is simple procedure which takes place at the same time as you are ovulating. Donor insemination procedures can be performed in your natural cycle or alternatively we can stimulate your ovaries with hormone medication to encourage a better response before the insemination

IVF with donor sperm

During IVF treatment we stimulate your ovaries to start the process of developing multiple eggs which will be collected and fertilised using sperm from your chosen donor. Our skilled embryologists will look after your embryos as they continue to develop, usually until Day 5, and then they select the best embryo for your embryo transfer.

Surrogacy

We can provide straight or host surrogacy. Straight surrogacy (also known as genetic, full or traditional) surrogacy is when the surrogate uses her own eggs and the sperm of an intended parent (IP) to achieve the pregnancy. In host surrogacy (also known as gestational or partial surrogacy) embryos are created using either the eggs of an intended parent or an egg donor with the sperm of an intended parent or with a donor’s sperm.

Because we need to think about the welfare of everyone involved in a surrogacy arrangement, we will only provide treatment where the intended parent(s) will be able to obtain a parental order and become the legal parent of any child or children born. In both types of surrogacy, either the eggs or sperm used to create the embryo must be provided by an intended parent for a parental order to be granted. There are some other specific requirements set out in the law about how surrogacy can be commissioned and who can get a parental order. Surrogacy is particularly complex area of family law and while we cannot recommend legal advisers, we can give you details of a number of advisers who we believe have the relevant experience. Egg Donation

Whether you have already found your egg donor or need help with where to start your selection process for an anonymous donor, Care Fertility clinics have dedicated egg donation teams to ensure you are guided and supported in finding a match that meets your requirements.

Once our team has matched you with an egg donor, you’ll then be able to start IVF treatment and create your embryos. You can find out more about IVF here. The clinical teams will assist you with information about the creation of your embryos. If you are still waiting on finding a surrogate we will create your embryos and have them available for when you're ready to start treatment.

Support with Care Fertility

One of the most important things you can do during your fertility journey is to have a support system. Support comes in many forms: friends, family and even those who are not directly involved in your journey can help.

Fertility treatment can be stressful, and sometimes people need additional support. Counselling is always available. You may also like to reach out to someone going through the same experience as you. On our Care Forum, you can chat with other patients going through a similar journey or just find reassurance that you are not alone.
